Dearest Helen,

I guess that by the time you get this letter you should be home and I guess that you should have read the past letter I wrote you which I wrote just before I left new River. I know now that I shouldn’t have written it, but was really disappointed in not hearing from you. I think I wrote you 3 letters and I didn’t know what was wrong, I went to the post office last night, and I sure was surprised when I saw that card from you. So don’t be mad at me and let me hear from you much more often And I will answer as soon as I possibly can. You can’t imagine how good it makes me feel to hear from you.

I am overseas now, as you probably knew before this, I wish I could say where I am, I am sure that you would like to be here too. For the last few nights, there has been a full moon, and I must say that I never saw such a beautiful moon in my life. I sure do hate to see it go to waste, but there really isn’t anything you can do about it down here.

I have your picture down here with me and it sure is nice to look at it every night before I go to bed. I am very sorry that I couldn’t get my picture and send it to you, but it was really impossible and they don’t seem to be much I can do about it now. You said on your card that you were on a vacation at Wildwood. I sure do wish that I could have been there with. We sure would have a good time.

You don’t have to worry about me being good, because I have to be good now, but just take care of yourself and you be good. I won’t say till next time I see you, because that might be an awful long time, but try it. I am only allowed to write two pages so I will have to quit for the time, but write me as soon as you can, and I will surely answer you.

All my love,

Joe
