Dearest Helen,

I received your most welcome letter the other day and I certainly was glad to get it. That letter was the first one that I have gotten from you outside of that post card you sent me when you were at Wildwood. You said in your letter that you sent me a letter before this one but I didn't receive any outside of this one. I guess that it must have got lost or something. So from now on how about writing more often because there’s nothing makes me feel any better than to hear from you.

I have been moved since the last time I wrote to you. I am in a permanent outfit and think that I will stay here from now on. I am now with the fourth Marine division. This division has been through three major battles and they are all veterans and you can really learn a lot from them. I am a machine gunner. It is not too safe, but when bullets are flying, it isn’t too safe anywhere. Right now we are going through training. How much longer this will last I don’t know, but I don’t think that it will be too long before we are in action again.

How is everything going with you? I hope that you are feeling better now than when you wrote that letter. I haven’t got a thing to complain about except that I miss you a lot and think of you all the time. I have been trying to have some pictures taken, and I will do so as soon as I have the chance, and you can be sure that you will be the first to get one of them. I have your picture with me and I am glad to have it. How about sending me a small one that I can carry with me at all times.

I can’t think of nothing else to say this time dear, so I will close for this time and be sure to write soon. Next time you see Jayerie tell him I said hello. Sending all my love to you honey and be good.

Love forever

Joe
